Engaging young volunteers

Volunteering in NHS Scotland: a starting point for engaging young volunteers in the NHS

Recognising that young people are not just the citizens of tomorrow, but also the citizens of today, this guide shares examples of how young volunteers are getting involved in health-related volunteering roles.

The document has been produced by the National Group for Volunteering. It describes how volunteering by young people can contribute to a number of national strategic goals and provides some principles for improving practice. It aims to encourage NHS boards to adopt a systematic, methodical approach to identifying and creating appropriate opportunities for young people to volunteer, and also to provide relevant training for the staff who oversee them.
